CASCADE SYSTEM

To achieve a correct and continuous machine heating and paper drying operation the drying curve of the cylinders needs to be controlled.
The first cylinders are operated at a low temperature to carefully initiate the paper drying and to avoid a steam cushion in between cylinder and web. Additionally the difference in temperatures between the web and the cylinder should not be too high as this could cause peeling and sticking of the web.

During the following drying groups the cylinder temperature can be increased as free water is evaporated from the surface of the web.
A Cascade System considers all the requirements and allows a highly efficient operation of drying sections.
